  • Orange eyes stake in Iranian telecom titan

    IRAN, 2016/09/12 French telecom giant Orange SA is in early talks about buying into Iran's biggest cellular network operator, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Such a transaction could make history as the initial time a Western firm has acquired a significant holding in a major Iranian company since Tehran agreed to curb its nuclear program last year in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions. Orange, which is part owned by the French government, is one of several European companies that have explored the potential of getting a stake in Mobile Telecommunication Co. of Iran, or MCI, the Journal said, citing people close to the matter. Orange would need to coax financing for a transaction out of Western Banks likely to be wary of tripping over US sanctions.

    IRAN, 2016/08/28 Iran has foiled cyber attack attempts which targeted its petrochemical complex, Gholam Reza Jalali, Brigadier General, chief of Iran's Civil Defense Organization, said. During the inspections in one of the country’s petrochemical complexes, inactivated viruses were discovered and the necessary defensive measures were taken in this regard, Jalali said, SHANA news agency reported Aug. 27.
  • Iranian hackers attack critical infrastructure in Turkey

    IRAN, 2014/12/17 Iranian hackers have launched several cyber attacks against the infrastructure of government and corporate institutions in 16 nations, inclunding Turkey, since 2012, a recent statement from the US-based cyber security firm Cylance Inc. has shown. According to the statement, a team of Iranian hackers located around the world has stolen confidential data from the computer networks of these institutions using existing hacking tools together with new methods of their own which were invented specifically for each target's system. Companies in the energy, military, transportation, aerospace, communications and chemicals sectors were targeted.
