  • UNWTO: International tourism – strongest half-year results since 2010

    AFGHANISTAN, 2017/09/09 Destinations worldwide welcomed 598 million international tourists in the initial six months of 2017, some 36 million additional than in the same period of 2016.   • Peugeot-Citroen lifted by Iran sales

    IRAN, 2017/08/28 French auto giant Peugeot Citroen (PSA) said Thursday world sales rose slightly in the initial half with its Iran comeback compensating for problems in China where volumes plunged by almost 50 %.   • Abu Dhabi says Gulf air embargo only applies to Qatar firms

    BAHRAIN, 2017/08/28 The air embargo imposed on Qatar only applies to airlines from Qatar or registered there, the United Arab Emirates Civil Aviation Authority said Tuesday.Embargo bans all Qatari aviation companies, aircraft registered in Qatar from landing or transiting through airspace of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain issued identical statements on the air embargo, which came into result at the same time as Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Manama broke off relations with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting "terrorism".
  • Iran expects $5B in petrochemical exports revenues

  • Iran signs biggest post-sanctions financial deal

    IRAN, 2017/08/26 Iran has signed a finance agreement worth 8 billion euros with South Korean Export-Import Bank (Exim Bank), the biggest transaction following the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action(JCPOA aka nuclear transaction), which came into force in 2016. Under the transaction which was signed by chief of Iranian Investment Organization Mohammad Khazaie and Exim Bank executive director Younghoon Chang, the two parties agreed to allocate an 8-billion-euro credit line between the two nations, Iran’s national-run IRINN TV reported Aug. 24.
  • Iran to upgrade Arak heavy water reactor by 2022

    IRAN, 2017/08/26 Project on re-designing of Iran’s Arak heavy-water reactor will be completed by 2022. Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), told local media that the operations to re-design Arak heavy water reactor is proceeding in accordance with the schedule, adding that the project would finish before 2022. He added that the re-designing of Arak reactor – which was renamed to Khandab heavy water reactor – had by presently entered the second phase, Press TV reported on August 25.

    IRAN, 2017/08/26 Iranian Defense Ministry’s Marine Industries Organization has unveiled a new domestically made two-speed gearbox to be used in watercraft. Speaking about the new product, the Marine Industries Organization’s managing director, Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari said propulsion systems are a major part of vessels and manufacturing them is a sign of advancement, Tasnim news agency reported on August 25.
