Hungary People Profile 2012
The population is declining steadily since the early 1980s. It is estimated that it will have six to seven million people by 2050.
95-98% of the population speaks Hungarian, a Finno-Ugric languages completely different from neighboring countries. There are several ethnic minorities such as Roma (1.9% ), Germans (2%), Slovaks (1%), Croats (0.8%), Romanians (0.3%) .
Several large Hungarian minorities living on the border of neighboring countries, especially Slovakia, Romania (Transylvania) and Serbia (Vojvodina).
