Greece Government Profile 2012

Under the 1975 Constitution, Greece is a republic. The legislative body is Parliament, which consists of 300 members elected by universal suffrage every four years. The Head of State is the President who is chosen by a vote of two-thirds of Parliament and for a term of five years. The President appoints the Prime Minister (head of government) and Cabinet. The Supreme Court is the highest court.
