Uzbekistan: Swiss company to upgrade Uzbek chemical plants

The Uzkhimprom JSC that unites chemical enterprises of Uzbekistan and the Swiss Casale SA signed a memorandum of cooperation on the modernization of production at two chemical plants of the country, a representative of the Uzkhimprom JSC told Trend.

In accordance with the memorandum, the Swiss company can take part in the modernization of the major chemical plant for the production of mineral fertilizers Navoiazot (Navoi city) and the Maxam-Chirchik JSC (Tashkent region), which specializes in manufacturing phosphate fertilizers.

The total preliminary cost of chemical plants modernization projects is $830 million.

“Under the agreements reached, the Swiss company until the end of the initial quarter of 2016 will present its technical proposals for the modernization of production on both chemical plants,” said the representative of the Uzkhimprom.

Navoiazot OJSC, Uzbekistan's major chemical plant, announced an international tender for the modernization of the nitric acid production with the starting price of $185 million in August 2014.

The tender was announced as part of the project with a total cost of $ 210 million for the complex reconstruction of the nitric acid units on the basis of the new energy and technological equipment.

The non-concentrated nitric acid production capacity must be increased by 1.4 times - up to 500,000 metric tons per year during the reconstruction.

Navoiazot announced an extra tender for this project due to a lack of competitive bids in September 2014.

"Maxam-Chirchik" JSC plans to begin construction of a new ammonia production plant worth $ 610 million in 2019. The project envisages the establishment of the facilities for the production of 660,000 tons of ammonia per year over three years.

Before, it was reported that Uzkhimprom company intends to implement 10 new projects aimed at establishing high-tech facilities with a total cost of $2.54 billion in 2015-2021. At present, the enterprises implement the projects worth $ 1.1 billion.

National energy-saving company to appear in Uzbekistan
2017/08/27 National Energy-Saving Company (NEC) is being created in Uzbekistan in accordance with the presidential decree “On measures for further introduction of modern energy-efficient and energy-saving technologies”. Local media reported that the NEC is being created “for introduction of modern energy-efficient and energy-saving technologies in the national bodies and organizations, inclunding for ensuring rational consumption of the energy resources.” The company’s tasks will include monitoring the efficiency of the energy consumption in Uzbek government agencies and organizations, preparation of proposals and introduction of the modern energy-efficient and energy-saving technologies, execution of the technical, technological, economic and other measures aimed at the reduction of the consumed energy resources’ volume.
