Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan,Pakistan to have air flight

A direct air flight will operate between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

Turkish airlines will carry out the Islamabad-Istanbul-Baku flights, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Dashkin Shikarov told Trend on Monday.

Under a tripartite agreement between Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey, Turkish airlines will operate the 3-hour flights twice a week (Monday and Friday). Ticket price is $600-650.

The agreement on resuming the air transportation between the two nations was completed as a result of Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain's official visit to Azerbaijan in March, 2015.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev supported his Pakistani counterpart's initiative, Shikarov said.

Extending the existing Islamabad-Istanbul to Baku was as well discussed with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu.

This air flight will contribute to developing partnership between the two nations in the field of tourism, Shikarov added.

"The Pakistani people love Azerbaijan. During the initial Olympic Games Pakistanis had an opportunity to get closely familiar with our country through programs and video rolls broadcasted on local television channels and a lot of expressed their desire to visit Azerbaijan. Presently they have got this luck," Shikarov said.

The flights will promote the economic relations between the two nations, he noted.

Goods turnover between Azerbaijan and Pakistan has reached about $1,318 mln from January to July, 2015, according to the National Customs Committee.
