Canada: Air Canada named one of Canada's top employers

Air Canada has been recognized as one of "Canada's Top 100 Employers" in an annual survey by Mediacorp Canada Inc. The national competition, which begins by examining the recruitment histories of additional than 75,000 employers across Canada, chooses top companies next conducting a detailed review of their operations and Human Resources practices, inclunding a comparison of others in their industry and region.

The award is part of Mediacorp's "Canada's Top 100 Employers" project. The annual competition evaluates and identifies the country's leading companies and organizations for attracting and retaining employees. The competition focuses on eight key areas: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development and community involvement. In citing Air Canada, Mediacorp noted that Air Canada "recognizes and encourages employee volunteers through the Volunteer Involvement Program - donating airline tickets to charitable organizations where employees volunteer."

    2013/10/08 A joint venture between UK-based mall owner Intu Properties (Intu) and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has purchased Parque Principado Shopping Centre, a 75,000-square-meter retail center in Oviedo, northern Spain for €162 million ($219.7 million) before transaction costs. Intu will assume the investment management of the property. Next the purchase, the investors intend to fasten bank financing of approximately 50 % of the property price, according to an announcement from Intu. Based on net gain of €11.7 million, the implied net initial yield at the purchase price is 7.2 %, the company said. "The opportunity to acquire Parque Principado, a top 10 center in Spain, on attractive and earnings accretive terms firmly establishes our presence on the ground in a country where we see considerable increase opportunities in the regional shopping center industry," David Fischel, chief executive of Intu, said in the release.
